How to Choose the Right Aperture Size for Your Application

Frequently Asked Questions

Choosing the correct woven wire mesh often starts with the right advice. Our FAQs cover common technical queries, ordering information and manufacturing capabilities to help you specify the right solution with confidence.

Can you cut woven wire mesh to my exact size?

Absolutely. We can supply woven wire mesh in full rolls, cut-to-size sheets, strips, filter discs and many other bespoke fabricated components. Simply tell us the dimensions you require and our team will recommend the most suitable manufacturing method.

The more information you can provide, the quicker we can recommend the correct solution. Ideally we need the material grade, mesh count or aperture, wire diameter, dimensions, quantity and intended application. If you’re unsure of the specification, our technical team can usually help identify it. This reflects the team’s emphasis on material grade, mesh count, wire diameter, aperture and application as the key details for an enquiry.

Mesh count is the number of openings per linear inch of woven wire mesh, while aperture is the clear opening between the wires. Although they are closely related, two meshes can have the same mesh count but different aperture sizes if the wire diameter changes. Choosing the correct combination is essential for achieving the required filtration or screening performance.

We manufacture and supply woven wire mesh in a wide range of materials including Stainless Steel, Plain Steel, Galvanised Steel, Copper, Brass, Phosphor Bronze, Aluminium and Fibreglass. We can also source specialist alloys, heat-resistant materials and corrosion-resistant grades for demanding industrial applications. The interview specifically highlights these core materials together with specialist alloys and heat/corrosion-resistant options.

Yes. In many cases we can professionally remesh existing bonded or framed screens, helping customers avoid the cost of purchasing complete replacements. Even if you don’t know the original specification, send us photographs or the screen itself and we’ll do our best to identify it before recommending the most suitable solution.
